Thursday night Leadership MetroWest recognized Mary Kate Feeney LMW’23 with the MetroWest Rising Star Award. This honor acknowledges and celebrates a recent alumnus for their commitment to the public good and to community engagement. With the lengthy list of good causes, civic groups, nonprofits, and committees that she leads and serves, and in her role as the District 3 City Councilor for the City of Framingham,  MaryKate epitomizes what it is to work in community for community. We are extremely proud to call her an Alum. Congratulations MK!

Scott Richardson LMW'99, Cofounder and Principal of GRLA Architects, received the Leadership MetroWest Appreciation award from Helen Lemoine LMW'93/ Executive Director Emeritus, Skye Jensen LMW'25, and Leigh Walker LMW'23 on June 11 at the Leadership MetroWest Annual Leadership Celebration. 

Congratulations Scott. Thank you for leading with such grace, commitment, steadfastness, humbleness, and compassion. Thank you for modeling civic-minded leadership through your community service and through your investment in the leadership development of the people on your fabulous GRLA team. By encouraging them in turn to step into civic leadership roles, you have created a positive multiplier that enriches the lives of so so many. We are so proud to call you a LMW Alum.

Join our LMW alumni for what is sure to be an eye-opening look at the inner workings of the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) on Friday June 5. As a group, we'll  tour this iconic and historic bunker (yes, the one under the big MEMA topiary letters on Rt 9) to learn about the myriad of ways that this agency prevents and mitigates all nature of disasters. We'll have the opportunity to speak with some of the talented MEMA personnel responsible for providing and coordinating equipment, our federal, state, and local resources, and Mobile Emergency Operations Centers (MEOCs) before, during, and after emergencies. And we'll gather at Jack's Abbey afterwards to review what we've learned and to enjoy pizza and beverages. Relive your Academy experience by joining members of the current Leadership Academy class on the bus to Massachusetts State House. We will park and depart from Advocates Main Office, 1881 Worcester Rd (Rt 9 West) Framingham MA 01701. 

We will meet with our legislators, tour our historic State Capital, and eat our lunch.

Then we'll head over to the Boston Common to "The Embrace," the larger-than-life bronze sculpture of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife Coretta Scott King, to meet the Embrace Boston leadership team behind this beautiful and iconic piece of public art to learn about their efforts to promote equity and social justice in Boston. 

9am-5pm | $90 per person

Fee covers the bus & lunch. Admission to the State House is free. �
